Jonathan Martin

Since graduating from UMass Dartmouth in May of 2012 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography - Visual Design I have worked at esteemed National School Portrait Studio, Lifetouch as a photographer.  Interning at the Norwich Bulletin Newspaper in Norwich, CT, I shot, edited, captioned, and uploaded photos on breaking news stories in a fast-paced deadline driven environment.  I've also done weddings, both solo and as part of a team.  Lastly, I've shot and edited video clips of abandoned animals at the CT Humane society to help these animals find forever homes.

With my art I seek to engage the viewer with humor.  Being able to laugh is one of the most important things in life and a lot of my work seeks to do just that.  With my work I try to communicate a concept or idea through my photos using humor as a hook to draw the viewers in.  If I see something about society or my personal life that I think is meaningful and deserves more attention I attempt to capture it and present it in a way that is both funny and deeply meaningful.
